Eligibility
To become a full RTAM member on or without a Teachers’ Retirement Allowance Fund pension, you must be a retired teacher with a Permanent Manitoba Teaching Certificate from the Department of Education and five years of teaching experience.
If you do not meet this criteria, you can join as an associate member. To become an associate member (non-TRAF member), you must be:
- An educator and resident in Manitoba, who is in receipt of a pension from ateacher's fund in a Canadian jurisdiction outside of Manitoba
- An educator in receipt of a Manitoba Civil Service Superannuation Fund (CSSF) pension, or resident in Manitoba and in receipt of an equivalent pension from a Canadian jurisdiction outside of Manitoba
- A non-educator in receipt of a TRAF pension
- A person who holds a teaching certificate, who is not retired, who is contributing to TRAF, the CSSF, or its equivalent in a Canadian jurisdiction
- A person who is not retired, who is contributing to a Manitoba university or college pension fund, or its equivalent in a Canadian jurisdiction outside of Manitoba
- The spouse/partner of a full or associate member
- The surviving spouse/partner of a full or associate member
Fees
RTAM membership fees are currently $3.00 per month or $36.00 annually. Members may have their fees deducted from their TRAF pension or pay by cheque, credit card or debit directly to RTAM.
